The second meeting place for the Oakland Scottish Rite is located on Madison near 14th Street. It was completed in 1909 and features the unique California Mission design. The third temple, located on Oak Street (now Lakeside Drive), was built using neoclassical elements popularized in the Beaux-Arts style. Both buildings were noticeable landmarks in Oakland’s expanding skyline and popularized by the townsfolk in postcards, as seen here.
